Naumachia is the term for the spectacular representation of mock sea fights which the Roman emperors recreated in arenas or basins of water dug up for the purpose. Nowadays it seems to be that a similar drama occurs every summer in the world of yachting, in the privileged bays of Antibes or St-Tropez. For Vincent Debanne, constructing a realistic impression of this scene necessitates spectacularity.
